Coffee Aim’s crux:
Barista Creations Scuro is a blend of Colombian and Ethiopian Arabicas. The light-dark split roasting adds intense roasted notes to your cup. The high acidity and bitterness do not satisfy you in black espresso; however, adding milk faints all strong notes. The milk mellows acidity, bitterness, and intense notes and delivers a smooth and balanced cup. The high intensity and caffeine give you a kick for the day and allow you to brew your favorite latte macchiato recipe at home. You may also like the highly roasted blend of Double Espresso Scuro made from Central American Robusta and Arabica. Its dark, smoky character is enriched by notes reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla.

Nespresso OriginalLine Scuro capsule Taste Test

My Scuro capsule had a caramel-like look and brown swirls on the top. I brewed it with my Lattissima One machine. I smelled it and got a bitter aroma. I took a sip, and the bitter, floral notes hit my palate. My drink had a very nice smooth texture. However, flavor-wise, it did not work well. I also brewed a ristretto; it still had rich floral notes. So I decided to try it with milk.

I brewed a cappuccino, and it worked well. The floral notes changed into enjoyable roasted notes, and it surprised me. It is better for breakfast, finishing lunch, or morning breaks. Pair your coffee cup with Nutella crepes or dark chocolate, and enjoy your day.

Barista Creations Scuro brews 1.35 oz espresso shots and is compatible with only Original-Line machines. It is incompatible with VertuoLine models. We received 170 reviews from our readers via email. 87% of reviews were positive, indicating our readers liked this capsule.

Nespresso OriginalLine Scuro Pod Features — An In-Depth Insight

Below are the main attributes of the Original-Line Scuro Nespresso capsules. These features differentiate these capsules from all other Nespresso capsules. These characteristics also make you understand when to brew this coffee and whether it is best for you. Let’s study its features in detail.

Origin — Colombia And Ethiopia

Barista Creations Scuro is a blend of Colombian and Ethiopian Arabicas. This blend delivers an intense roasted coffee taste that balances perfectly with milk. You may also like the highly roasted blend of Double Espresso Scuro made from Central American Robusta and Arabica. Its dark, smoky character is enriched by notes reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla.

Roasting Level — 2 out of 5

Roasting is essential in creating the ideal harmony of coffee with milk. The art of roasting includes a delicate balance of temperature, roast time, and bean color. Nespresso experts tested many combinations to find out the ideal flavor balance in Scuro with milk. They used a contrasting split roasting technique.

The first split gets a long and dark roast, while the other gets a faster and lighter roast. The combination of both splits developed the unique roasty character that goes well with the sweetness of the milk.

Aroma — Bitter

When I brewed black espresso with Scuro, I got a bitter and almost sour aroma. When I added the milk, the decent aromatic profile soothed me. Barista Creations Scuro is inspired by the baristas in Melbourne, as they are the masters of robust but exquisitely balanced tastes. Their roasting and blending lend an aromatic profile poised as the yin to the yang of milk.

Acidity — 1 out of 5

When I brewed Scuro coffee, I found it quite acidic. The rich acidity spread on my tongue, but it did not satisfy me. However, when I added milk, the milk mellowed out the acidic notes and offered me a balanced cup. This blend shows how your intense coffee can get beautifully in balance with milk.

Bitterness — 3 out of 5

My Scuro coffee was bitter and had a bitter, aromatic profile. These notes were pleasant and did not bother me. The bitterness subsided when I added milk, and my cup became well-balanced. This blend is roasty enough to push through milk, and its delicate sweetness tempers its intensity to make it compelling and intense. Brew cappuccino or latte macchiato, or taste it with cow milk or your favorite plant-based milk alternative: oat milk, coconut milk, or soya milk; it will always amaze you.

Body — 2 out of 5

My OriginalLine Scuro coffee had a nice smooth texture. The thin crema persisted to the end and gave my drink a nice look. The addition of milk made it more balanced and creamy. It became a part of my morning break, and I enjoyed it every time.

Flavor — Roasted And Balanced

As soon as I tasted my Scuro black shot, I found it acidic. The floral notes touched my tongue, and the smooth texture soothed my mouth. The milk mellowed out its strong profile when I brewed cappuccino or latte with this pod. The bitterness and acidity subsided, resulting in a balanced coffee cup. I enjoyed this experience.

Finish — Pleasant Bitter

When I finished my Scuro coffee, I got a pleasant bitter aftertaste. These notes stayed at the back of my tongue for a long time, making my drink linger. My drink was smooth and very well-balanced. It is perfect for sweet and light-roast coffee lovers.

Intensity Level — 8 out of 13

Barista Creations Nespresso Scuro delivers intense and strong coffee cups. The medium intensity makes it perfect for milk beverages. It provides satisfying milk recipes such as mocha, macchiato, etc. the hints of cocoa and roasted notes bring some roughness and give you a kick for the day.

Nespresso Scuro Strength

Nespresso Scuro delivers intense roasted coffee. These strong notes balance perfectly with milk and provide a balanced and smooth cup. It took inspiration from Melbourne baristas, who are masters of robust and perfectly balanced tastes. The experts chose Arabicas from Colombia and Ethiopia and then split-roasted them in a very contrasting manner to create an intense, roasted coffee taste that balances perfectly with milk.
