Nespresso Vertuo Double Espresso Scuro Review

Spread the love

Here is our honest review of Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro. We brewed double espresso with this Nespresso great pod and shared its incredible features below.

The Bottom Line

With intensity 8, the Scuro is a blend of Central American Robusta and Arabica beans. The dark roasting of these beans gives it a very dark smoky character enriched by the notes reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla.

What are Nespresso Double Espresso Dark Roast Espresso Coffee Pods Vertuo?

Nespresso offers a variety of pods; each has a specific barcode and brew size, such as espresso (1.35 oz), lungo (5.7 oz), coffee (7.7 oz), etc. A double espresso is a Nespresso Vertuo pod that delivers a 2.7 oz double shot. Insert that Nespresso double espresso pod in any VertuoLine machines, and the brewer will provide your drink in no time.

What is Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro Taste?

I unboxed my Nespresso Scuro pods; its dark brown color was pretty good. It is a Vertuo pod, so I brewed it with the Nespresso VertuoLine machine. It smelled great. The cocoa scent was wonderful. When I tasted it, the cocoa notes hit my palate. I also felt a bit of woody notes; it had an odd aftertaste, and I was not sure what it was. Overall, the flavor was decent.

I frothed the 4 oz milk and added it to the Scuro coffee. When I tasted it, I got woody notes, which was weird. There were some cocoa notes; however, the drink was good.

I enjoyed the drink, and it became my favorite morning coffee. I suggest this Vertuo pod remarkably.

10 Major Features Of Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro

We focused on ten significant attributes of Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro. These characteristics are enough to discover how Central American originated-Scuro is different from all other Nespresso Vertuo pods. These features also help us understand that the Scuro is perfect for espresso lovers and jumpstart your day with a cup of joe. I brewed many hot or cold coffees, milk beverages (lattes), mix Scuro coffee with ice; in all cases, it never disappoints me. Let’s have a complete insight into these notable features.

Origin — Central America Arabica And Robusta Beans

Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro is a blend of Central American Robusta and Costa Rican Arabica coffee. One portion of these beans is decaffeinated to ensure that caffeine content does not get too high. Arabica beans deliver a double punch, while Robusta beans give a smoky character to the drink.

Roasting Level — 3 out of 5

Scuro is a highly roasted blend of Arabica and Robusta beans and delivers dark and bold drinks. The intense blend develops a smoky character and glows your cup with dark cocoa and vanilla notes. The roasting level directly affects the drink’s acidity; light roasting gives a fruity and juicy flavor, while dark roasting gives an intense and candied flavor. When I brewed Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro, the drink was full-bodied and had an ashy and citrus taste. The notes enrich its dark smoky character, reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla.

Aroma — Very Dark Smoky Character

When I brewed Nespresso Scuro, the rich roasted cocoa aroma spread around. I am a chocolate lover, and its chocolatey aromatic profiles soothed me a lot. I smelled its scent again and again. When I added milk to the drink, the highly roasted blend enhanced its smoky character and cocoa and vanilla aroma. No doubt, the scent of Nespresso Scuro is exquisite and satisfying for coffee enthusiasts.

Acidity — 1 out of 5

You either experience mild or acrid acidity in your drinks. Nespresso Scuro is a highly roasted blend of Robusta and Arabica beans, so it adds subtle acidity to your drink and delivers full-bodied shots with a creamy texture. When I drank Scuro coffee, I felt sweet chocolate and vanilla notes on my palate. No doubt, Double Espresso Scuro delivers a cup of joe and makes your morning better.

Bitterness — 3 out of 5

The dark roasted Arabica, Robusta beans, and an intense blend deliver dark and bold espresso beverages. The Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro adds standard bitterness to the drink. The dark smoky character and citrusy notes allow you to experience new flavor in each sip.

Body — 3 out of 5

When I brewed Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro dark roast coffee and took a sip, the drink was bold and full-bodied. Its creamy texture sat luxuriously on my tongue, and rich roasted chocolatey notes soothed my throat. The intense and powerful aroma relieved my mind, and I drank the whole cup in no time. I neither felt any harshness nor found it heavy at all.

Double Espresso Scuro Caffeine Content — 100-120 mg

Nespresso pods contain 80 mg of caffeine, enough to fulfill your caffeine needs. The same caffeine content is present in a standard coffee cup. However, Double Espresso Scuro has high caffeine content and delivers intense espresso beverages. When we measured it in our lab, we found 100-120 mg caffeine content in this sumptuous Nespresso capsule.

Nespresso Scuro Intensity — 11 out of 13

The consistent and dark roasted blend of Arabica and Robusta beans delivers a strong and intense drink with a balanced, creamy texture. The intense blend balances its intensity till the last sip and provides bold espresso beverages with ashy, carbony, and citrusy notes.

Flavor — Cocoa & Intense Roasted

After brewing, when I started to taste my Double Espresso Scuro dark roast coffee, the first graced my palate with cocoa and ashy notes. In another sip, I felt a carbony and citrusy flavor. The drink was strong and had a smoky character reminiscent of cocoa and vanilla notes. I experienced a new taste in each sip and felt like a bouquet of various flavors in my single cup.

Finish — Cocoa and Vanilla Notes

When I finished the Scuro coffee, I felt a bit of bitterness, but soon its bitterness was balanced with sweet chocolatey and vanilla notes. My mind still preserves its intense cocoa aroma, smoky character, citrusy, ashy, and carbony notes. I prefer to jumpstart my day with dark and bold Scuro coffee, which never disappoints me every time.

Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro Brew Size

Nespresso Double Espresso Scuro delivers a 2.7 oz balanced and intense espresso beverage. It is a Vertuo pod, only brewed with Nespresso VertuoLine machines. Vertuo machines offer six brew sizes.

  • Espresso — 1.35 oz
  • Double espresso — 2.7 oz
  • Gran Lungo — 5.7 oz
  • Coffee — 7.8 oz
  • Alto — 14 oz
  • Carafe — 18 oz

We brewed this pod with the VertuoLine machine and got a fantastic coffee. We also brew alto, coffee, and gran lungo with it, but we got only tasteless, watery, or acrid drinks. So, it is better to brew only double espresso with Scuro.
