Nespresso OriginalLine Ristretto Pod (Dark-Roast Espresso Coffee) Taste Test

I unboxed my Nespresso OriginalLine Ristretto capsule, and its shiny black color was eyeballing. I brewed it with my Gran Maestria Nespresso machine. The color of the drink hinted at an intensity of 10. My espresso shot had a very strong aroma. I took a sip, and the dark chocolatey notes covered my palate. I used to eat chocolate a lot in my childhood, and my mother always scolded me. These notes reminded me of those days. My drink was smooth and balanced. I also felt rich acidity and bitterness, but it did not bother me. It was an enjoyable shot, indeed.

I frothed the milk in the next turn and added it to the Ristretto drink. The blonde color of the drink looked cool. I took a sip and found that the milk took away all its acidity and bitterness and softened the cocoa notes. The drink was creamy and had decent flavors.

Nespresso Ristretto Vs. Espresso

What Is The Difference Between Nespresso Ristretto And Espresso? The main difference between a ristretto and an espresso shot is the amount of water that passes through the coffee grounds and filter. Ristretto uses half the amount of water than the amount you use to extract an espresso shot. The amount of coffee grounds is the same in both drinks.

Coffee grounds contain different flavor compounds, each extracted at a different rate. Some expose in the early stages of extraction, and others much later. So, ristretto exhibits those flavors that are extracted very quickly. As a result, it is concentrated and has rich flavors and less bitterness than espresso or other long shots.
