On the other hand, the absence of steam can be a major disappointment for any coffee lover, suggesting that the coffee may be lukewarm or cold. The absence of hot steam and the presence of lukewarm coffee indicate that your Nespresso Vertuo Plus is facing some problems. Therefore, to serve yourself a hot cup of coffee again, you must know how to fix this problem.

Cause 1: Use Of Cold Cup

Do you know! A cold cup can be the culprit of this problem. In colder seasons, using a chilled cup straight from your cupboard cause your coffee’s temperature to drop as soon as it’s poured in. So, to ensure your coffee stays hot and satisfying, try warming up your cup first!

Water leakage in the Nespresso VertuoPlus can be a frustrating problem, damaging your machine and creating a mess. There are several reasons why water leakage can occur in the Nespresso VertuoPlus.

Typically, water leakage is not a big issue to solve because, most of the time, the water reservoir needs to be locked appropriately. In contrast, in some other instances, the water reservoir could be damaged, need replacement, or be clogged and need cleaning.

To resolve water leakage, check for the following reasons and their solutions:

Cause 1: Water Reservoir Is Not  Correctly Placed.

One possible reason for water leakage in Nespresso VertuoPlus machines is an improperly locked water reservoir. If the water reservoir is not locked securely in place, it can cause water to leak out of the machine.

Problem 6: Why Is The Capsule Not Ejecting From The Pod Holder?

One common issue you may encounter is the capsule needs to be ejected properly, which can be frustrating. There could be several reasons why the capsule is not ejecting; coffee.

Cause:  Capsule Holder Is Clogged

The brewing process can result in some coffee grounds or residue remaining in the pod holder and around the capsule. Problem 7: Why Is There A Coffee Leakage In Nespresso VertuoPlus?

If you observe water gathering under your coffee machine or dripping from the capsule holder, it is an indication that there is a leak. Some might think their Nespresso is beyond repair; however, they should hold their horses because the leakage can be frequently fixed after identifying the root cause. Several reasons can cause this problem. Let’s identify!

Cause 1: Damaged Seal Or Gasket

A gasket is a silicon or rubber ring that surrounds the brewing head and is made to create a tight seal between the brewing head and the capsule to prevent the coffee from leaking out of the machine. Over time, the gasket can become worn out and damaged, resulting in the leakage of coffee.

Solution: Replace The Gasket.

Replace the gasket with a fresh one to rectify the issue. It is recommended to take professional help in replacing the gasket.

Cause 2: The Machine Is Not Leveled

Sometimes, you mistakenly place your machine on an unstable surface, causing it to lean to one side and leak.

Solution: Place The Machine On A Leveled Surface

Problem 8: Why Is My Nespresso Taking Too Long Or Too Short Coffee Extraction?

For an optimal shot of espresso, the extraction time should be between 25 and 30 seconds. If your extraction time is shorter or longer than 20 seconds, here are some steps to address the issue.

Solution:

  1. Clean and descale the machine to ensure no buildup or blockage affects the brewing process.
  2. Clean the spout to remove any sediment or debris that may impact the espresso flow. You can use a paper clip or a Q-tip to clean the spout and then rinse it with water without using a capsule.
  3. Clean the grid plate to remove any old coffee grounds affecting the extraction process. Use a toothbrush to clean the grid plate thoroughly.
  4. Check whether you have reprogrammed the pour volume, as this can cause issues with the extraction time. If you have accidentally reprogrammed the machine, you can do a factory reset to restore the original pour volumes.

Problem 9: Red Steady Light And The Machine Is Not Running

If your Nespresso machine shows a steady red light, it indicates overheating. In this case, you should take the following steps:

  3.  After the machine has cooled, turn it on again and see if it operates normally.

Problem 10: Why Is My Nespresso Vertuoplus Won’t Close?

This problem with the Nespresso VertuoPlus machine is likely caused by air trapped in the system. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Solution:

  1. Ensure that there is water in the machine’s tank and turn it on.

  3. Lift the silver lever on top of the machine into the upright position.
  4. Press the coffee button on the machine.
  5. Push the silver lever away from you, and hold it for 3 seconds.
  6. Press the coffee button again to stop the water flow.

Problem 11: Why Is Water Not Coming Out Of My Nespresso VertuoPlus?

If your Nespresso VertuoPlus is not dispensing water, don’t panic; this issue is easily fixable. Typically, this problem arises due to coffee residue stuck in the dispenser disk or the clogged tubes within the machine. Make sure to check all components.

The Disk In The Coffee Dispenser Is Stuck

The capsule container, an essential component of Nespresso, should rotate freely without any obstruction. Moreover, there is a disk located in the handle, which should also rotate freely. If the system detects an obstruction in its rotation, the water will cease flowing during brewing. This obstruction is sometimes caused by the coffee residue left stuck in the disk or capsule.

Solution

To save yourself from such an unpleasant situation and fix this, Unplug the Nespresso and open the handle. Now rub some vinegar on the disk with the help of a brush to remove the coffee residue. Let the vinegar sit for some time, then rinse it.

The Tubes Inside The Coffee Maker Are Clogged

Not only does the disk get clogged, but the tube inside the coffee maker can also get clogged if you have been using Nespresso for a long time without descaling it. The mineral deposits cause clogging of the tubing and can create various issues in your Nespresso VertuoPlus coffee maker. These mineral deposits can accumulate over time, and if left unattended, they can cause the coffee maker to malfunction.

Solution

To remove the blockage or air bubble, fill the water tank halfway. Then, using something like a turkey baster, suck up some water from the water tank and place it on the tank’s water suction port. As the coffee maker attempts to create a cup, press the brewing button and firmly spray the water.

Another Way To Unclog The Blockage

If unclogging from the outside does not resolve the problem, try unclogging the tubes inside. First, remove the water tank and unplug the VertuoPlus. Next, turn the machine on its side and unscrew the nine screws at the bottom. And can the bottom of Nespresso.

As you open it, you’ll see the cable and a little transparent tube connecting to the water suction port of the tank. Now, remove the transparent tube from the black water suction port’s outlet. Then you should do the same thing with this tube. Since handling technical tasks requires expertise, I recommend you hire a technician to perform such duties, ensuring that everything is done safely and efficiently.

Water Bubble Development

The pump makes sure that the water in your Nespresso is flowing. It is most likely air-locked if it makes noises, but only a few drops of water or none at all fill your cup. You can solve this problem by emptying the Nespresso VertuoPlus.

Empty The VertuoPlus

  4. While the machine is still off, press down on the lever for another three seconds until an orange light appears.
  5. Press the lever twice to activate the ‘Emptying system’ function.
  6. Press the button to begin the emptying process. The orange light will blink during this process.
  7. Once complete, the machine will shut off automatically.

The Vertuo Needs Descaling

Another possibility is that your Nespresso needs descaling. Lime deposits build up in the pipes over time, which can stop the water from. Descale the machine by following the process explained in “Problem 2” ( Cause 3), titled “Descale your Nespresso VertuoPlus”.

Problem 12: Why Is My Nespresso VertuoPlus Turns To “Off” Mode Automatically?

Nespresso VertuoPlus has introduced a feature called “Auto shut off Mode, in which the Brewer turns off after a certain period of inactivity. It is not a problem but a way to conserve energy consumption. If this is not the case, check the water reservoir level, as sometimes the water reservoir is empty or close to empty, and the machine will automatically shut off to prevent damage. Make sure the water reservoir is filled correctly.

Problem 13: Why Is My Nespresso VertuoPlus Blinking And Not Working?

The blinking lights of VertuoPlus usually indicate that it is starting to prepare for the brewing process. Give it a minute and wait to see if it starts working. If the issue persists, you should check the following things:

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with adequate water level
  2. Make sure that a new and undamaged capsule is inserted into the brewer.

If the problem is unresolved, your brewer needs a soft reset. To do that, press the button for three seconds, release it, and then press it again to turn the machine back on. If the machine doesn’t turn off, it may be in descaling mode. To exit descaling mode, press and hold the button for at least seven seconds.

Problem 14: Why does Nespresso VertuoPlus Not Start And Have Green Steady Lights?

Nespresso VertupPlus has different lights and illuminating patterns to indicate specific processes and problems. You can encounter issues with the machine lights, such as not turning on or blinking irregularly. The following are the solutions to this problem.

The Head Is Not Properly Closed

If the green lights are steady and the machine is not starting; it is possible that the head is not properly closed. If not, complete it properly before attempting to start the machine again.

Insert The Capsule Properly.

Nespresso VertuoPlus Not Working How to Fix It, Why does Nespresso VertuoPlus Not Start And Have Green Steady Lights, How to insert capsule.

If the capsule is not correctly inserted, the machine will not start. To check if the capsule is inserted correctly, ensure it is placed in the proper position with the correct alignment.

Once the capsule is inserted and the head properly closed, you can press the button to start brewing. If the machine still does not start, try unplugging it and wait a few minutes before plugging it back and attempting to start the brewer again.

Problem 15: Why Is The Green Light Blinking Continuously And The Machine Not Running?

If the green light on your Nespresso VertuoPlus machine is continuously blinking and the machine is not running,  then it means that the brewer is heating up. This process typically takes a few seconds to complete, after which the machine will be ready for use.

Problem 16: Why is The Green Light Turning On While Machine Is Running?

If the green light on the Nespresso VertuoPlus machine turns while running, it indicates that the brewer is functioning correctly. It means the device is heating the water and preparing it for brewing.

Problem 17: Why The Light Half GREEN And Half RED Steady On My Nespresso?

A half-green and half-red steady light on a brewer indicates that the machine requires descaling.

Descaling removes mineral buildup from the machine’s internal parts, such as calcium and lime. This buildup can affect the machine’s performance and efficiency and cause damage if left unchecked.

When this alert appears a few times, it’s an early warning that the descaling process needs to be performed soon. Using the machine without descaling can decrease performance; eventually, the brewer may stop working. Descaling the brewer as quickly as possible is important to prevent further buildup and maintain its performance.

To know the descaling process in detail, see the section  “Descale your Nespresso VertuoPlusunder “ Problem 3” (Cause 2).

Problem 18: The Red Light Blinking Continuously, And The Machine Head Stops Moving.

A blinking red light and a stuck head indicate that your machine has a problem. In this scenario, the machine may be unable to brew the coffee properly, which can be frustrating. In the following text, I will explore some possible causes of this issue and what users can do to troubleshoot it. Let’s start!

A Problem With Machine Head And The Capsule Container

A continuously blinking red light on a machine, combined with the stuck machine head, indicates a problem in the machine head due to blockage. Obstructions can prevent the machine head from functioning properly and cause the machine to go into a safety mode, indicated by the blinking red light. Moreover, sometimes the wrong adjustment of capsules in the pod holder can also cause this problem occurs.

Clean Your Machine Head

Clean your machine head using a soft-bristled toothbrush that’s been soaked in soapy water, and delicately scrub the machine head to clean it effectively. Be sure to pay special attention to the piercing needle and the surrounding area, as most of the debris accumulates. Rinse the machine head thoroughly with clean water and wipe it dry with a clean towel. Once the machine head is dehydrated, reinsert it and close the handle.

Empty The Capsule Container

Nespresso VertuoPlus Not Working How to Fix It, The Red Light Blinking Continuously, And The Machine Head Stops Moving, How to empty the capsule container.

It’s essential to empty the capsule container if it is full, as a full container can also cause the machine head to stop moving. If the container has no space left, Nespresso won’t be able to eject the used capsule into the capsule container.

Problem 19: The Machine Does Not Start, And Red Light Blinking 2 Times And Goes Back To Steady Green.

If you’re experiencing a situation where the machine does not start, and the red light blinks twice and then goes back to a steady green light, this can indicate a problem with the machine’s capsule detection system.

Fill the water tank and push the button to start:

  1. Make sure the water tank is filled with fresh, clean water. Then, turn on the machine by pressing the button. The machine will start heating the water for brewing.

Open the machine head to eject the capsule:

  1. To remove the used capsule from the previous brew, lift the machine head upwards. The used capsule will drop down into the capsule container. Make sure to empty the capsule container regularly to avoid overflow.

Check that a fresh capsule is inserted in the correct position and that the machine head is closed, and push the button to start:

  1. Before brewing a new cup of coffee, insert a fresh capsule in the correct position. The machine will scan the barcode on the capsule rim to determine the brewing parameters. Once the capsule is inserted, make sure to close the machine head completely. Then, press the button to start the brewing process. The machine will automatically adjust the brewing parameters based on the type of capsule inserted. Once the brewing is complete, lift the machine head again to eject the used capsule and start the process over.

Problem 20: The Machine Does Not Start, And Red Light Blinking 3 Times Every 2 Seconds And Goes Back To Steady RED.

The flashing red light on a machine often indicates an error or problem with the device.

Problem With The Machine’s Fan

If the red light flashes every two seconds three times and then goes back to steady red light, it indicates a problem with the machine’s fan. In this situation, you must hire a professional to repair the machine or contact Nespresso.

Problem 21: Why Is The Red Light Fading Out?

A fading red light on a Nespresso machine indicates the brewer is cooling down. It can occur after extended use or if the machine has overheated.

Once the machine has cooled down, the light should turn a steady green, indicating that the brewer is ready to use. It’s essential to allow the machine to cool down fully before using it again to avoid further overheating or damage.

Problem 22: Red Light Flashing Twice And Goes Back To Orange Blinking.

If you notice the VertuoPlus machine blinking red twice and then changing to orange, it’s signaling an issue with its special function ( descaling, emptying the system, or resetting). The first step to resolve this is to restart the machine. However, if the error light continues to show, you can try initiating a cleaning cycle.

Problem 23: Why Is My Nespresso VertuoPlus Blinking Orange?

The blinking of an orange glow on a Nespresso VertuoPlus machine can indicate various issues that require attention. One of the primary reasons for this blinking light is the need for descaling. Descaling is necessary to eliminate mineral buildup and ensure the machine’s proper functioning. However, the blinking orange light could also indicate other problems, such as overheating, cleaning, or any problem with the brewer. The diagnosis also depends on the blinking pattern; every type indicates a different issue.

Blinks Two Times Per Second

If your Nespresso VertuoPlus is blinking orange light twice, it is not an issue of concern because your brewer only needs to be cleaned. You need to clean your brewer to get rid of this alert. To effectively clean your brewer, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the machine head and remove any used capsules. Take a damp paper towel and wipe the spinning piece on the underside of the open head and the area around where the coffee capsules sit.
  2. Rinse the reservoir, then fill it with fresh water.
  3. Rinse the cup support and place a 14 fl oz or more oversized mug under the coffee spout.
  4. Empty the capsule container, rinse it with cold water, and return it to its place.
  5. Close the machine head and lock it in place by turning it left.
  6. Start the cleaning cycle by pressing the machine button thrice within two seconds. The light will start flashing, and water will flow within two minutes. The cleaning cycle will run for about five minutes as the machine pumps through three water cycles.

Blinks Three Times Per Second

Nespresso Veruo Plus will flash an orange light three times when it demands a descaling process. Desaclling is essential for better functionality and performance of your brewer. By running the machine through the descaling mode, the buildup of minerals, such as calcium and lime, is removed, allowing for proper water flow and preventing further damage. Run a descaling mode to exit this alert.

Pulses (fades OFF, then ON)

If your Nespresso machine is pulsing orange, it indicates that it needs to cool down. It can occur after prolonged use, and it is essential to allow the machine to cool down before continuing to use it. To address this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Press the button to turn it off.
  2. Press the button again to turn it on.
  3. Wait for 20-60 minutes for the machine to cool down.
  4. If the pulsing orange light persists after the cooldown period, hold the button for at least seven seconds to see if it stops.

Blinks Twice For 1 Second, Then Long Off.

If your Nespresso blinks orange twice for one second and then goes off for an extended period, the machine has encountered an error. To address this issue, try the following solutions:

  1. Unplug the machine from the power source and let it sit for at least ten minutes.
  2. Plug the machine back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.
  3. Check the water reservoir and ensure it is filled to the appropriate level.
  4. Check the capsule container and ensure it is empty.

Blinks, Then White For 3 Seconds

The Nespresso VertuoPlus must be taken if it blinks orange for three seconds and then turns white. This issue will damage the potential of your brewer, and eventually, it will stop working, as it urgently needs a descaling process.

Problem 25: Why Is My Nespresso Not Working After Descaling?

If you are facing a malfunction in your Nespresso after descaling, there could be three underlying reasons for this inconvenience.

An Electronic Glitch

A glitch is a short-term, unidentifiable error, as its root causes are minor. They are usually not a cause for concern since you can efficiently resolve the issue by simply resetting your appliance.

Once the reset is done, the machine will function as intended.

First, to reset your Nespresso VertuoPlus, ensure it is disconnected from its power supply for five minutes. It will allow any retained power to fade. After five minutes, plug the machine back in and turn it on to start afresh.

Water Reservoir Issue

If your Nespresso VertuPlus does not make coffee after descaling, it may be due to the water not flowing, which could be caused by the one-way valve at the bottom of the water reservoir stuck. Residue from the descaling solution may have become stuck around the valve, preventing it from opening. As a result, water cannot flow from the tank, making it impossible to make coffee.

Tripped Safety Thermostat

The descaling process involves intense heat, sometimes heating the brewer. If the temperature of the brewer becomes dangerously high, the safety thermostat will be triggered, causing the electrical circuit to break. It will result in no power flowing through the machine, and it will turn off automatically to cool down. If this happens, you must replace the thermostat with a new one.

Problem 26: Why Is My Nespresso Vertuoplus Not Turning Off?

Nespresso VertuoPlus usually takes nine to ten minutes to turn off. If it does not turn off, you may be missing a step. Follow the steps to turn your brewer accurately.

  1. Press down on the lever for three seconds and then lower the lid.
  2. The machine will power off.

If the issue persists, then contact the Nespresso company.

Problem 27: Why Is My Nespresso VertuoPlus Only Blinking?

It can be difficult for some people to identify the root cause of issues with their Nespresso VertuoPlus, as these machines have many complex parts. Fortunately, a few common problems could be indicated by blinking lights on the machine, and troubleshooting methods are available to help resolve them. Here are some standard troubleshooting techniques to address these flashing light issues:

  • The Brewer is in Descaling mode.
  • The Machine is warming up.
  • Blocked Capsule.
  • The low water level in the machine reservoir.

Brewer Is In Descaling Mode

A common reason for the Nespresso Vertuoplus to experience flashing lights is that it was accidentally put into the descaling process. If you notice the lights flashing rapidly and continue to do so for an extended period, it is likely due to the machine being stuck in the descaling process. To resolve this, the user should follow the steps to exit the descaling process.

Solution

  1. Hold the flashing buttons for about six seconds until a clear beep is heard.
  2. Release the buttons, and the machine will automatically exit the descaling mode.

Other points to consider:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be caused by a different problem.
  • In some cases, the flashing lights could indicate a more severe problem that requires professional assistance.
  • It is vital to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for operating and maintaining the Nespresso machine to avoid potential issues.

Problem 28: The Brewer Is Warming Up

A Nespresso machine’s light might flash because it is warming up. It occurs when you plug in the machine and press either button once. The buttons will blink continuously until the desired temperature is reached. Once the machine is ready, the cup-size buttons will stop flashing and turn solid. Select the desired cup size, and the machine will start brewing the coffee.

Blocked Capsules In Your Machine

If a capsule becomes blocked in the Nespresso machine, it may trigger a maintenance light, and the machine will not be able to function correctly. If the previous troubleshooting steps have not resolved the issue, you should check the capsule container for any obstructions. If a capsule is stuck, it should be safely removed. After the blockage is cleared, the machine should stop flashing, and the user can resume using it.

Low Water Level In The Machine Reservoir

If a Nespresso machine experiences a lack of water, it will be unable to function correctly, and a flashing light will indicate the issue. If the user notices that the water reservoir is empty, they should refill it immediately, and the machine’s light should turn off.
