Nespresso Capsules Difference: OriginalLine vs VertuoLine
Nespresso makes two types of machines: OriginalLine and VertuoLine. In the same way, Nespresso makes two types of coffee capsules: OriginalLine capsules and VertuoLine capsules. Nespresso OriginalLine capsules are compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine machines, and VertuoLine capsules are compatible with Nespresso VertuoLine machines.

There is another type of Nespresso capsule: The third-party Nespresso compatible capsule. These are capsules that Nespresso does not make, but other companies make these capsules. You can only use these capsules in Nespresso Original Line machines.
Now let me tell you about the difference between Nespresso VertuoLine capsules and Nespresso OriginalLine capsules. They look like this:

Nespresso Machines Differences: VertuoLine Vs. OriginalLine
Nespresso has two lines of espresso machines: OriginalLine and VertuoLine. These two lines of devices use capsules to extract coffee and espresso drinks.
- OriginalLine: The OriginalLine machines extract shots from Nespresso branded and third-party capsules using their 19 bar pump.
- VertuoLine: The VertuoLine machines extract shots from only Vertuo barcode-enabled capsules using their Centrifusion (rapid capsule spinning) technology and brew a standard coffee up to 18 oz.
According to our deep analysis, Original machines are better than Vertuo machines.
We have 5 reasons to prove that:
1. 19 Bar Pump Vs. Centrifugal force
Vertuo machines use centrifugal force to extract the contents of the coffee pods and spin the capsules so that the coffee produced is less intense. In contrast, Original line machines make a traditional espresso and coffee drink using 19 bar pump pressure.
2. Crema Consistency
Crema: the hazel-colored layer on top of your espresso makes it more beautiful and tasty. OriginalLine machines have a thick crema with the taste and mouthfeel of authentic crema. On the other hand, VertuoLine machines have a more pronounced and aromatic crema, but it is airier, “whipped,” having less taste and mouthfeel than its counterpart.
3. Coffee Temperature
We also find that OriginalLine coffee is a little hotter than VertuoLine coffee. Possibly a result of Centrifugal force.
4. Capsule Cost
The cost of OriginalLine capsules is far less than VertuoLine capsules. The cost difference depends on capsule type, but in general, Vertuo capsules are 30% more expensive than OriginalLine capsules. Some third-party capsules are surprisingly cheap at $ 0.12 per coffee, saving Nespresso brand capsules (especially the more expensive Nespresso Vertuo capsules).
5. Capsule Scanning
Capsule scanning is a significant difference between the two lines. Vertuo machines use capsule scanning technology to read barcode capsules. This feature of VertuoLine machines is beneficial for the machine owner because he does not have to select many options. On the other hand, this technology is detrimental to the machine owner as he cannot use cheap third-party capsules. He has to use only Nespresso or Starbucks Vertuo capsules instead of Gourmesso, HiLine, and Lavazza in his Vertuo Machine. Both Starbucks and Nespresso are expensive brands compared with third-party capsule brands.
By no means do I want to convey that Vertuo machines are useless to you. Are you looking for a dual-use brewer for both espresso and standard coffee? A VertuoLine coffee maker might be the perfect choice for you.

Being on the back of the water tank, it’s a beautiful addition to your kitchen countertop. It is available in various eye-catching colors to match your kitchen decor. The machine is available in a variety of colors and finishes. Its premium models feature chrome or rose gold accents, and its deluxe models feature a chrome and dark chrome finish, so select according to your choice.
When we received our review machine (along with a complimentary starter set of Nespresso capsules), it was in 100% recyclable packaging – many other devices were packed in plastic and foam bags, and we were experiencing a refreshing change at large. This recycling process doesn’t just stop there; it continues – the Nespresso brand claims to have made this machine from 54% recycled plastic without sacrificing style, and now all Nespresso pods can be recycled.
Features Analysis
Size
Vertuo Next comes with a measurement of 5.6 x 16.9 x 12.4 inches / 14.2 x 42.9 x 31.4 cm, which makes this machine look nice and slim (in terms of depth, it is a bit long, which does not look so beautiful) and if It’s easy to fit even if your kitchen countertops have less space. You can hold it near any electric socket in your kitchen or home, as it does not spread dirt when you use it. You do not need to keep it close to the sink as you can also remove its water tank, so keep it wherever you want.
Removable Drip Tray
The machine has a drip tray that is useful for preventing drips and small leaks onto the ground, mainly in your kitchen, wherever you fit your device. The drip tray is flexible for long and short drink sizes, and it is removable, easy to clean.
Capsule Holder
Capsule holders are there to store your used pods. The machine easily removes these pods. The device can hold 10 spent capsules.
Pro Tip: Dry used pods in an open bowl before putting them in a recycling bag to remove odors.
Cup Sizes
You can choose more cups than the original line machines in all Vertuo machines, including Nespresso Vertuo Next. And that’s the beauty of this machine that makes it great. You have six choices: Espresso (1.35 oz), Double Espresso (2.7 oz), Grann Lungo (5 oz), Mug Coffee(7.7 oz), Alto XL (14 oz), and Carafe (18 oz) Power-Over style coffee. You can adjust the cup stand at different heights for smaller and larger cup sizes.
Milk Frother
First of all, if you’re a newcomer to the Nespresso world, it’s most important information for you that Nespresso Vertuo machines can’t froth milk, so if you want to create latte art and other milk recipes like macchiato, latte macchiato, you have to buy a separate milk frother. A Nespresso frother will cost $98 / £50 / AU$99, but there are a lot of cheaper models available out there.
Performance Analysis
We like how the Nespresso Vertuo Next reads the barcode on the capsule, which means that the machine works everything out and produces your drink just as it should.
How Does It Brew?
Like other Vertuo machines, when you put Vertuo barcoded capsule in a Vertuo Next machine, the device reads the bar code on each coffee pod, which means that the machine works everything out to prepare the coffee properly. It also means that you will have to use a patented Nespresso capsule in Vertuo Next – the VertuoLine machines do not compatible with regular third-party Original line pods. The device uses centrifugal force to spin the capsule rapidly so that the coffee produced from it is smooth and has a nice crema on top.
Easy to Use —- Making coffee is easy
Getting Nespresso Vertuo Next out of the box and setting it up is very easy: it’s effortless and only takes a few minutes. And we tested this machine for four weeks using a variety of capsules to see how well this model works and how many different drinks you can make from it.
All you have to do is select a capsule, place it inside the machine, and press a button on the top of the device. The Nespresso machine will automatically adapt brewing parameters to each capsule – cup size, pressure, temperature, brewing time and make coffee for you.
How We Test It?
To test Vertuo Next, we repeatedly tested all sizes of Vertuo line capsules with this machine to find out what grade this coffee maker makes espresso and coffee drinks. First, we tested the espresso capsules specially designed for this machine. It was easy for us to lift the machine’s lid and put a capsule inside using the capsule. Once we closed the device with the top down and clicked it in place, the machine was ready to make espresso. All we have to do is press a button on the machine, and it automatically adapts brewing parameters to the capsule and makes our coffee.
In just a few seconds, the machine filled our cup with espresso. The machine-made espresso had a thick, foamy, golden-brown crema on top. We enjoy espresso without sugar (you can add sugar, by the way), but if you stir the drink to add sugar, the crema will stay the same because we have tried it too.
We then tried Double Espresso, Lungo, Gran Lungo, Mug Coffee, Alto, and Carafe, Power-Over Style Coffee Capsules. No capsules took more than 100 seconds to brew, and the amount of coffee produced was exactly as described on the pod.
No Splash
We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was no splash when the machine was working, usually, when we use some bean-to-cup coffee machines, we have to face a lot of mess. The coffee that the device re-made had a nice crema, and when we added sugar and milk and stirred it, the crema remained the same. Although this crema was of very high quality, it was not like the crema produced by the Original line machines.
Taste of Brewed Coffee
When we tasted the coffee made from Vertuo Next, we felt that this coffee was a bit fragrant. Although I’m not too fond of the aromatic taste of coffee and tea, I like the aroma of coffee made from this machine, you may also like it, but some coffee drinkers do not like this aroma.
And when we tested whether the taste was utterly burnt or smooth? So we felt it was permanently smooth. Although some reviewers who have tasted the coffee find that some of the capsules taste bitter, it depends on the drinker’s personal preference for how they taste.
Recycling Bags
Environmentalists have criticized coffee pods so much that it has become clear to every coffee drinker that coffee pods are not environmentally friendly products. But when it comes to Nespresso pods, Nespresso offers a regular recycling program for its coffee pods.
When you buy a Nespresso machine, you carry a recycling bag with it, and when you fill it with used capsules, you can take it to your nearest Nespresso boutique or collection point. Or you can ask the delivery driver to collect your bag when he arrives to fulfill your next order of Nespresso pods.

Coffee drinkers saw their friends’ clever and bright impressions who drank coffee with the machine. But, some picky seniors may not like to make coffee with this machine.
So, strangely enough, I originally found this model while on YouTube. Several videos were posted by Nespresso of this exact Machine (all uploaded within the last 30 days). Still, in the comments, Nespresso stated that there wasn’t a release date in the US for this particular machine yet. So, of course, I was surprised when I found this exact machine here on Amazon. I was a little skeptical and fearful that I would be sent something inauthentic but took the risk knowing I could return if that were the case. I like this slimmer design and the color, which is why I never pulled the trigger on any of their other models. I should also mention that this is my very first Nespresso purchase ever. I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up and turned out to be everything it said it was and more. It’s a wonderful machine so far. The coffee and espresso come out perfectly hot. The machine warms up extremely fast, and the frother is magic. Seriously I have zero complaints thus far. I will update in the future if anything changes, but for now, I am very pleased.

However, there is no doubt that coffee made from coffee pods is a lower-quality coffee than coffee made from a bean-to-cup coffee machine. Because when you make coffee from a bean to cup coffee machine, you make high-quality coffee from freshly ground coffee beans. You can never brew coffee like this with coffee pods.
But when we compare Nespresso pods to a bean-to-cup coffee machine, the situation is quite different. Because Nespresso stands out with its aluminum pod design, therefore, they claim they have used their high technology to seal their pods in such a way that their taste stays fresh even for a year. It is the claim of Nespresso.
And if you want to enjoy espresso made with freshly ground beans with your Vertu Next machine, this is not a problem. All you have to do is buy stainless steel reusable pods for Vertuo machines, grinding whole coffee beans, and then seal them and use them in your Vertuo Next machine.
And enjoy coffee made from freshly ground beans. These stainless steel reusable pods last for ten years.

Slim and smart machine
Vertu Next is the latest model of Nespresso with a width of 5.5, slim and compact. If you like Vertuline coffee and want to buy a small machine due to the limited space in your kitchen, then Vertuline Next One is ideal for you.
But if you want to get a slimmer and smarter machine than the Vertuo Next, which has the same functionality as the Vertuo Next, check out the Nespresso Ascenza Plus. You can make 1.35 oz espresso, 3.70 Oz Lingo, 5.05 Oz Americino, and 6.75 Oz Americano XL. Moreover, Ascenza Plus, with a 34 oz water tank and 4.7 inches wide, is more slim and compact than Vertuo Next.
Reason for not buying this machine
Small Water Tank
The biggest reason for not buying this machine is its small 37 oz water tank, which is insufficient for frequent coffee drinkers. Instead, if you look at the Nespresso Vertuo, it has a 40-oz water tank, and its 1350-watt heating elements heat the water in just 15 minutes to brew coffee.
Or take a look at the Vertuo Plus Deluxe, which has a water reservoir of 57 oz and a brew size of 0.3 to 18 oz, and it uses six types of capsules.
Not Good for Milk Recipes
Vertuo Next is not suitable for you if you like to make lattes. The machine is designed to produce only espressos and Americanos, so if you want to create latte art, you’ll need to buy an additional milk frother. If you’re an avid latte drinker, check out Nespresso Creatista pro or Nespresso Latissima Pro. All the machines at the Nespresso Creatista series have a swivel frothing arm. In contrast, the machines at the Nespresso Latissima series have automated milk frothers that may help you make a latte, macchiato, latte macchiato, and other milk recipes.
Not Good for Those Who Grind Their Own Coffee
If you’re a Good lover of freshly ground coffee, you don’t want to buy pods. You can’t use this machine with ground coffee; buying official Nespresso pods may be your first choice. But you can’t recycle these Nespresso pods in your household recycling.

You’re a lover of freshly roasted ground coffee and want to fulfill your desire with a Nespresso machine? Buy a coffee grinder and reusable stainless steel OriginalLine Nespresso pods if you have a Nespresso OriginalLine machine. And if you want to enjoy Nespresso Vertuo Next or any other VettuoLine device like Nespresso Evoluo or Nespresso Vertuo, then buy reusable stainless steel pods for VertuoLine machines.

Not Good for Cheap Coffee Machine Finders
Want a cheap pod machine? Either Nespresso VertuoLine or OriginalLine, these machines aren’t cheap, the added expense of buying pods on top.
