Nespresso Rio de Janeiro Espresso Pod Taste Test

My Rio pod had a shiny green color and a beautiful leafy design. It was an OriginalLine pod, so I brewed it with my Lattissima Pro machine. My shot had an intense roasted and herbal aroma. When I took a sip, I found it bold, tasting the intensity of 9. The strong woody and herbal notes of thyme and rosemary were coming through. The subtle walnut notes surprised me, making it a bit nutty. Overall, it was a dark and intense shot.

In the next shot, I poured the Rio coffee over the ice cubes and added a dash of milk. I tasted it, and rich walnut notes hit my palate; however, it remained intense. It was a pleasant cup.

Nespresso Rio de Janeiro is a perfect blend for summer breakfast. Pair your Rio coffee with biscotti, chocolate croissant, or other sweet food to balance its intense profile.

Nespresso OriginalLine Rio de Janeiro Espresso Features — An In-Depth Insight\

Let’s indulge in the amazing features of the Rio de Janeiro capsule. These attributes will solve all your queries, such as why this pod differs from other Nespresso capsules, whether it is perfect for your summer, whether you should order it, and much more. So, keep scrolling.

Origin — Brazilian Arabicas

Nespresso Rio de Janeiro is a blend of 100% Brazilian Arabicas from the Espirito Santo region. These beans add walnut, sandalwood, and herbal notes of rosemary and thyme to your cup. It captures the passion and spirit of Cafezinho and Rio de Janeiro’s carioca coffees.

Roasting Level — 4 out of 5

In this Nespresso coffee blend, the Brazilian beans are roasted separately for an optimal time to preserve the herbal notes. The beans from the other regions are roasted darkly and for much longer to enhance body, intensity, and bitter notes.

Aroma — Roasted And Herbal

As soon as I brewed my Rio de Janeiro capsule, the strong roasted (toasted bread) and herbal aroma excited my nerves. The scent was robust and pleasant, refreshing my mood in the morning.

Acidity — 1 out of 5

My Rio espresso shot had a touch of acidity. Although I expected rich, acidic notes, the mild and pleasant acidity surprised me and made my cup-balanced and enjoyable.

Bitterness — 4 out of 5

My Rio de Janeiro coffee had a doable bitterness. I was afraid I would get punchy or harsh, bitter notes, but Rio also surprised me here. The pleasant bitterness enveloped my palate totally for a fair amount of time.

Body — 4 out of 5

My Rio espresso shot had thin, persistent crema. The coffee was dark and full-bodied. Its smooth, velvety texture covered my tongue and gave me a pleasant mouthfeel.

Flavor — Herbal, Sandalwood, And Spicy Notes

Nespresso Rio de Janeiro offered me a unique, contrasting, and flavorful cup. Upon my first sip, the rich herbal notes of rosemary and thyme hit my palate. As I proceeded further, the strong woody notes covered my palate. The hints of walnut made my cup more enjoyable. This dark and intense blend became a part of my morning routine. I also brewed my favorite coffee and milk recipes with this capsule, and it always surprised me with its hidden strength.

Finish — Herbal

When I finished my Rio de Janeiro coffee, the herbal taste stayed long. My espresso shot was smooth and lingering. The walnut, sandalwood, and herbal notes of rosemary and thyme capture the passion and spirit of the Cafezinho and Rio de Janeiro’s carioca coffees.

What Makes Rio de Janeiro So Special?

World Explorations Rio de Janeiro Espresso is the creative interpretation of the Brazilian Cafezinho experts. It is an all-Brazilian Arabica blend honoring the heritage. Coffee tastes vary across the country, and this blend’s complexity reflects that. It is a blend of the beans from the Cerrado district, the Espirito Santo state, and the renowned pulped natural processed Bourbon variety from Minas Gerais. These are Brazil’s finest growing regions, having iconic processing methods and admired variety.
