Once the water gets heated, the machine takes less than a minute to brew coffee. K-compact has a low-water alert light that starts flashing when the reservoir has a low water level. Overview

Every new Keurig model provides only customers convenience, be it ease of use or budget. The Keurig K-Compact single-serve coffee maker is designed for customers who want the best coffee experience at home with a low budget. K-Compact goes into the category of small-size brewers of Keurig. This brewer is 12.5” tall and 8.2” in width, you can easily place it on the counter, having less space. In Keurig coffee makers, K-Compact is the slimmest removable reservoir brewer. The transparent water reservoir is made of plastic and has a 36-oz capacity. You can brew multiple cups with one refill. You can also fix a water filter in the reservoir as it has enough space.

You can have three options for brew sizes; 6, 8, and 10 ounces in K-Compact to make your favorite beverages. You can choose/decide 6-ounces when you want to make a strong coffee. Otherwise, the K-Compact coffee maker has no strong brew option. You cannot adjust the temperature in this brewer. K-Compact brews fast; once the water gets heated, it will take less than a minute to brew coffee. K-Compact is a pretty straight machine, with just a power button and three more buttons for selecting brew size.

You can make your favorite cup of coffee by choosing a K-Cup from hundreds of brands available. Its smart start feature heats and then brews the coffee, giving you even more convenience.

The one other likable feature is auto-off. Don’t worry if you forget to turn off the brewer before leaving home. The k-Compact coffee maker will turn off automatically after two hours. It would help you to save energy. You can remove the drip tray for placing travel mugs or if you are cleaning the machine. In K-Compact, you cannot see the water level from the front as the water tank is at the back. K-Compact has an Add Water light to know the water level, which will start flashing, indicating that the reservoir needs refilling.

The manufacturers have given the K-Compact coffee maker very minimal features, so it is best to start your journey with single-serve coffee makers. It has no programming features that can be annoying for a person who has just got his first-ever coffee maker. This model is the perfect choice for a newbie.

What We Don’t Like

  • No Strong Brew: K-Compact has no feature to make strong coffee. For having a bold cup of coffee, you can select the smallest brew size i.e., 6 ounce.
  • No Water Filter Kit: This brewer doesn’t come with a water filter kit. You need to buy the filter separately.
  • Rear-Positioned Water Tank: The water reservoir in K-Compact is positioned at the back of the brewer, which makes it harder to access the reservoir for refilling and rinsing purposes.
  • No Iced Coffee Feature: K-Compact has no feature to serve you an iced coffee.
  • Maximum 10-oz Brew Size: You cannot fill your large travel mug with K-Compact as the maximum cup size it offers you is 10 oz.

Design, Appearance, and Footprint

The Keurig K-Compact coffee maker has a very typical look like many single-serve coffee makers, it is 12.5” tall and 8.2” wide. The designer has kept the button menu very minimal. K-Compact has only four buttons; the power button and the other three for brew sizes. This brewer has an Add Water light that lets you know that the water level in the reservoir is low.

The K-Compact single-serve coffee maker has five color options; Black, White, Gray, Turquoise, and Moonlight Gray. This brewer has a rear-positioned 36-oz removable water reservoir and plastic handle. K-Compact is the slimmest removable reservoir brewer of Keurig, it takes very less space to fit in.

Ease of Use — Programming

The main flux of K-Compact is that it requires no effort to make the best-tasting coffee; making coffee in k-Compact is one simple process. This brewer has no programming features keeping it as effortless as possible. Just a few steps and you are done!

To make your coffee with K-Compact, take out the water reservoir and fill it:

  1. Plug in the brewer and press the power button.
  2. Lift the handle and pop a K-Cup pod into the pod holder.
  3. Select the brew size from the three buttons by pressing the desired one. The brewer will start heating the water, and once the warm-up or heating is done, you will get your great cup of coffee in less than a minute.

Performance

The Keurig K-Compact satisfied many customers with its performance. People mostly loved it for its affordability and convenient features. For strong and bold coffee addicts, K-Compact cannot be a five-star product as it has no feature for a strong brew. But with a 6-oz brew size, you can have a pretty strong taste. This brewer takes about 2 minutes to heat the water. Once the water gets heated, it serves you coffee in less than a minute.

Note that the coffee pouring out of this K-Compact is around 168-170 degrees Fahrenheit and this brewer has no feature to adjust the temperature. The K-Compact is a little noisy machine. The size of the brewer is not large compared to the noise it makes.

Coffee Quality

The Keurig K-Compact generally makes good quality coffee with a pleasant taste. But the opinion differs!

Some people want coffee just to activate themself for daily chaos. Whereas some perfectionists want strong, bold coffee enriched with taste, they find the coffee made with K-Compact a bit weaker. Otherwise, K-Compact serves a perfect dose of caffeine.

Cleaning and Descaling

Machines require maintenance to give the best results, and so does the Keurig K-Compact. You need to descale your K-Compact regularly, it is recommended to descale the brewer after every three months or 600 coffees.

To descale the brewer, make sure it is plugged in, and there is no K-Cup in the machine. Empty the water reservoir, and if you have installed the filter, then take it out of the reservoir. Take one bottle of the descaling solution and dump it into the reservoir, now fill that bottle with fresh water and pour it into the water reservoir. Place a container under the drip, press the power button, lift and lower the handle and select the 10-oz brew size. The machine will start pouring the solution into the container. Brew it one more time until the Add Water light turns on. After the Add Water light turns on, leave the brewer as it is for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, take out the reservoir and, dump the remaining solution into the sink, wash the reservoir with water and soap. Now fill the reservoir with fresh water and place it into its place. Repeat this process with fresh water as you did with the descaling solution.

To clean the lower needle:

  1. Lift the handle and take the pod holder out by pushing it up from the bottom.
  2. Open the pod holder by gripping it in both hands, take a paperclip and poke it in the bottom of the part that has a needle.
  3. After cleaning, place the pod holder in its place.
  4. For the top needle, take a little longer paperclip and poke it into the needle from the sides.
