A Step-By-Step Guide On How To Make A Double Shot Of Espresso With Nespresso Essenza Mini Using 2-Capsules

When you see the top of the Nespresso Essenza Mini machine, you will find two buttons, one on the right is Lungo, and the one on the left is Espresso. Today we will tackle the Espresso button. Follow the steps below to brew a hot double Espresso shot.

Before starting the Instructions, I want to let you know that there are two ways to brew a double shot of Espresso. One uses the same capsule, and the other uses two different Espresso capsules. The preceding method will give you a less strong taste than the following one. Making a double shot of Espresso using one Capsule is not recommended by Nespresso as Nespresso says you should not use one capsule twice as it will make the second shot of coffee less intense. 

1. Plug the machine’s cord into a grounded outlet.

2. Turn ON the machine by pressing either the Lungo or Espresso button.

3. The LEDs will blink for approx. 25 seconds.

4. Then the LEDs will become static. It means the machine is heated up and ready to use.

5. Fill the water tank with potable water.

6. Insert the Espresso coffee capsule by lifting the lever. Close the lever.

7. Place a large cup under the coffee outlet by removing the drip tray.

8. Press the Espresso button.

9. 40 ml or 1.35 ounce of Espresso shot will start pouring into the placed large cup.

10. After the one shot is poured, remove the used coffee capsule by lifting the lever.

11. Place the second Espresso Coffee Capsule in the Capsule compartment and close the lever.

12. Again press the Espresso button.

13. Another Espresso shot will start pouring into the same cup into which the previous first shot has poured.

14. A double shot of Espresso has been served.

15. Remove the used capsule by lifting and closing the lever.

A Double Shot Of Espresso Using A Single Coffee Capsule

For a double shot of Espresso using a single cup, follow the instructions point 1-9 from the above “A Double Shot Of Espresso Using Two Coffee Capsules”. Then follow the remaining instructions below

Instruction: 

1. After the one shot is poured, again press the Espresso button without removing the capsule from the capsule compartment. 

2. Another Espresso shot will start pouring into the same cup into which the previous first shot has poured.

3. A double shot of Espresso has been served.

4. Remove the used capsule by lifting and closing the lever.
