Today, I came up with a review of one of the luxurious Vertuo pods, i.e., Nespresso Altissio. I brewed and tested it and decided to share our honest review.

Bottom Line

With a blend of Costa Rica and South American Arabica beans, Nespresso Altissio soothes your tongue with velvety crema. It delivers a bold and full-bodied espresso shot with a chocolatey aromatic profile and hits your palate with a creamy cereal note.

What does Altissio Nespresso Coffee taste like?

The Nespresso Altissio pod has a royal purple color, and I found it incredible. It is a Vertuo pod, so I brewed a 1.35 oz espresso shot with a Nespresso VertuoLine machine. While it was brewing, it smelled wonderful. After brewing, when I smelled it, I got a chocolatey aroma. Well, its dark color indicated at 8-9 intensity. When I tasted it, it was pretty intense and had a good flavor. Initially, I got cocoa and a bit of cereal notes. The tart notes touched my tongue, which might be due to the presence of Robusta beans. The drink was full-bodied, and I got a good mouth feel. I felt a lot of weight on my tongue when I drank it. It had a decent amount of oil, so it did not give a drying effect.

So, I brewed iced coffee with Nespresso ALtissio; I frothed the milk and added it to the top of the drink (ice+Altissio coffee). The drink was smooth, much like the Nespresso Ice-Leggero Vertuo pod. When I tasted it, the sweet chocolatey notes were dominant. The drink’s texture was good and became part of my summer drinks.

Overall, Altissio delivers excellent drinks, either hot or cold. The texture, aroma, and drink quality will always amaze you.

11 Major Features of Nespresso Altissio

The image showcases Nespresso Altissio Vertuo capsule features in the article "Nespresso Altissio Vertuo Review.

I focused on 11 significant features of Altissio; these features differentiate it from all other Nespresso Vertuo coffee pods. These help me to know how Altissio is different from other Nespresso coffee pods. The texture, aroma, body, intensity, and drink quality of Altissio help me understand whether I take this bold drink in the morning or evening or whether I enjoy it in springs, summers, or winters. Let’s have a complete insight into these features.

Origin — Costa Rica And South American Arabica Beans

Nespresso Altissio is a blend of roasted Costa Rica and South American Arabica beans. The highly roasted blend delivers bold and full-bodied espresso shots with dense and thick crema. The Costa Rica Arabica beans balance their body, and South American Arabica beans deliver soft cereal notes.

Roasting Level — 3 out of 5

This image illustrates Altissio Vertuo's roasting level

The roast level strongly relates to coffee’s acidity. The dark roast gives a candy flavor, indicating that sugar is caramelized, while the light roast gives a juicy flavor. Nespresso VertuoLine Altissio is an intense and short roast of Costa Rica and South American Arabica beans. When I brewed a drink with Altissio, it delivered me a bold espresso shot with velvety crema. The hint of Robusta contrasts with smooth cereal notes made my day, and baggy and malty notes hit my palate.

Aroma — 4 out of 5

When I brewed Altissio coffee, its soft baggy aroma spread all around. When I got closer to the cup, its aroma hinted at Costa Rica Arabica beans. When I took a sip, the velvety crema sat luxuriously on my tongue, the baggy and malty notes hit my palate, and I felt like I was walking through cereal fields.

Acidity — 1 out of 5

Acidity is one of authentic coffee’s misunderstood features. Acidity adds brightness and dimensions to your coffee cup. Your drink can be tang-like, mild, or lemon-like acrid. Nespresso VertuoLine Altissio delivered me an intense and creamy drink at once. The espresso shot is bold & full-bodied and is topped with dense and velvety crema. It has no bitterness and possesses mild tang-like acidity.

Bitterness — 3 out of 5

When I brewed Altissio coffee and took a sip, the rich, roasty, and soft cereal notes hit my palate. I was a little worried about my job, but one sip let my thoughts wander around cereal fields.

Each coffee cup possesses a unique flavor, and you can quickly identify whether it has fresh fruit, honey, molasses, or caramel-like sweetness. You can also differentiate between white and brown sugar, maple and honey syrup, etc. However, Nespresso Altissio delivered me an intense and creamy coffee cup simultaneously.

Body — 3 out of 5

he provided description refers to the physical structure of the Nespresso Altissio Vertuo capsule body within the context of the "Nespresso Altissio Vertuo Review" article

The body is the weight of coffee that you feel on your tongue. You may feel light (brewed with skim milk) or heavy (brewed with whole milk or whipped cream). Altissio is a Nespresso Vertuo pod and is brewed with only VertuoLine machines. OriginalLine models deliver heavy drinks, while VertuoLine machines deliver light and smooth coffee. I found Altissio coffee creamy and smooth on my tongue. When I took sip after sip of it, the velvety texture soothed my throat, and malty, baggy, and chocolatey notes hit my palate. I drank the whole cup and didn’t feel it heavy at all. The addition of milk complements its natural full body.

Caffeine content — 50-60 mg

Nespresso coffee pods always fulfill your caffeine needs. It’s one capsule contains about 80 mg of caffeine and is enough for one standard coffee cup. Altissio is a Vertuo espresso capsule with low coffee and caffeine content. I measured its caffeine content in my lab and found 50-60 mg of caffeine in this sumptuous Nespresso pod.

Flavor — Cocoa roasted and smooth cereal notes

The full-bodied and highly textured coffee is a blend of complex flavors, and each sip gives you a different flavor. Altissio brews such a type of drink and delivers you creamy and intense flavor in one cup. At first, I felt a baggy and rich roast flavor on my tongue, but the malty and soft cereal notes hit my palate in another sip. I also brewed latte, ice drinks, or other milk beverages with it. The velvety and creamy texture balanced its body and compelled me to demand sip and cup after cup.

Intensity — 9 out of 11

This image illustrates Nespresso Altissio Vertuo capsule intensity

Nespresso Altissio is a blend of rich roasted Costa Rica and South American Arabica beans, best for coffee enthusiasts. Intensity means the level of acidity and bitterness you have in your drink. More bitterness means more intensity. Altissio coffee has high intensity, soothed my throat with a bold and velvety-textured espresso shot, and hits my palate with soft cereal, baggy, and malty notes.

Strength — 9 out of 11

The coffee’s caffeine content and roasting level determine its strength. The darker the coffee beans are roasted, the greater the strength of your coffee. The Altissio is a blend of rich roasted Costa Rica and South American Arabica beans. It delivered me a bold, full-bodied, creamy, and intense espresso shot, balanced with its velvety texture. The intense and short roasting gives it a baggy note and hits my palate with a flavor of chocolatey, malty, and soft cereal.

Finish — Soft Malty Sweetness

If you start your day with a splendid espresso shot, its intensity and bold taste will remain in your mind. Nespresso Altissio delivered me such a memorable drink. When I brewed Altissio coffee, it was smooth, creamy, and lingering. When I finished it, I felt bitterness slightly in the end, but later on, it changed into soft malty sweetness. Its rich, roasty aroma, thick, velvety texture/crema, and chocolatey and soft cereal taste are preserved in my mind. Whenever I am reminded of it, I want to brew and drink a bold cup of Altissio coffee.

Nespresso Altissio Brew Size

I brewed Nespresso Altissio with a VertuoLine machine as it is a Vertuo pod and only works well with VertuoLine machines. Vertuo machines brew six cup sizes.

  • Espresso —- 1.35 oz
  • Double espresso —- 2.7 oz
  • Gran Lungo —- 5.7 oz
  • Coffee —- 7.8 oz
  • Alto —- 14 oz
  • Carafe —- 18 oz

Nespresso Altissio delivers a 1.35 oz bold espresso shot. I only got watery drinks with this pod when I brewed double espresso, alto, carafe, etc. So, I suggested brewing only espresso shots with the Altissio Vertuo pod.

Altissio Nespresso Machine Compatibility

There are two types of Nespresso machines; OriginalLline and VertuoLine

OriginalLine machines are compatible with Nespresso Original coffee pods and third-party coffee capsules. They use 19 bar pressure pumps and extract perfect espresso shots from compatible coffee capsules. These models deliver full-bodied drinks and are best for frequent coffee drinkers.

VertuoLine machines use the Centrifusion technique, scan the coffee capsules, run them at high speed (7000 RPM), and extract the perfect shots. They are compatible with VertuoLine and  Starbucks by Nespresso Vertuo coffee pods.

Nespresso Altissio is a Vertuo pod and is only brewed with the Nespresso VertuoLine coffee machine, which may include; Vertuo, — VertuoPlus, —  VertuoPlus Deluxe, — Vertuo Next, or Evoluo.

Is Nespresso Altissio Out of Stock?

Nespresso Altissio is not out of stock and is widely available on many online stores such as Amazon, the Nespresso website, Bed Bath Beyond, or other sites. Choose any of the online stores according to your preferences, but before buying, get the details of shipping, return policy, and customer service. I prefer to buy coffee capsules from Amazon as it is a reliable site. It is a good seller, offers good shipping and returns policy, and products guarantee. When I ordered Nespresso Altissio, Amazon delivered me a variety pack of 10 capsules. It has a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

Nespresso capsule-based coffee machines are an incredible addition to the coffee world. I brewed my favorite beverages with these brewers and found it an affordable brewing system. I also went to coffee shops regularly to drink my favorite coffee but found it an expensive and time-consuming experience. So, based on these findings, I evaluate how much money a single person can save if he buys a Keurig or Nespresso machine and pod and brews his coffee at home. The statistics are shown in the table below.
